Day 1 Auckland - Rotorua This morning take delivery of your rental vehicle. Drive South over the Bombay Hills and follow the New Zealand's mighty Waitako River to arrive Hamilton. You may consider deviating South and travelling via the Waitomo Caves. Departing the city treverse the Mamaku Ranges and descend to Rotorua. The balance of the day is free. Day 2 Rotorua Today is free to discover this spectacular wonderland. Suggested sights may include a visit to the geo-thermal areas, a farm show staged at either the Agrodome or Rainbow Springs, a marae (meeting ground) based Maori Concert. The more adventurous may consider a Mt. Tarawera excursion or whitewater rafting trip. Rotorua boasts an extensive range of attractions and cultural experiences. Day 3 Rotorua - Taupo Travel south through Kaiangoroa, the World’s largest man-made forest. Visit New Zealand’s geothermal power stations and Huka Falls before arriving in Taupo. Suggested sightseeing includes the Craters of the Moon geothermal reserve, a ride on the Huka Jet, thrilling bungy jump and a swim in a natural hot pools. Taupo abounds in activities and attractions. Day 4 Taupo - Auckland Prior to departing Taupo this morning we suggest you view the famous Aratiatia Rapids. The route to Auckland travels again via the central North Island pine forests. Pass through the logging towns of the Tokoroa, Putararu, Tirau and farmlands Waikato countryside to Hamilton before retracing your route to Auckland. |
