Day 1 Auckland - New Plymouth

Today travel south to the Waitomo Caves (entrance fee included) Visit the famous glow worm caves with their canopy of fairy lights. Reaching the town of Te Kuiti in the heart of the King Country bear west and climb to the summit of Mount Messenger. Descend to the coast and continue on to New Plymouth situated at the base of Mount Egmont.

Day 2 New Plymouth - Lost World Highway - Turangi

This morning we suggest a visit to: Mt. Egmont the majestic sentinel of the region, Lake Mangamahoe and the world famous Pukeiti Rhododendron Gardens. Departing New Plymouth skirt the base of Mt. Egmont to reach Stratford before taking Highway 43 The "Lost World" highway. This partly unpaved road has changed little since New Zealand pioneers carved the route out of the dense native forest and rugged hill country. You will pass through earth tunnels and beneath beautiful forest canopies as you make your way to the volcanoes of the central North Island and the nearby community of Turangi.

Day 3 Turangi - Taupo - Rotorua

This morning back track to the nearby Tongaririo National Park, a World Heritage Site with its unique ecosystems and awesome volcanoes. Leaving Turangi round Lake Taupo to reach the town of Taupo. Visit the famous Huka Falls and geothermal power stations. Pass through the huge pine forests to reach Rotorua with its geothermal delights.

Day 4 Rotorua

Today is free to discover this spectacular wonderland. Included sightseeing comprises entrance fees to the Agrodome, Paradise Valley Nature Park and Whakawerawera geo-thermal reserve. You may also consider participating in a marae (meeting ground) based Maori Concert or a Lake cruise. The more adventurous may opt for a Mt. Tarawera 4WD excursion or a whitewater rafting trip. Rotorua boasts an extensive range of attractions and cultural experiences.

Day 5 Rotorua - Auckland

Commence the journey to Auckland by traversing the Mamaku Ranges and descending to the lush Waikato farmland to arrive Hamilton. Following the Waikato River, New Zealand's longest waterway, pass through the mining community of Huntly prior to arriving in Auckland.
